He issued the warning on Monday while addressing journalists in Abuja.
Kawu who claimed some forces within the political space are trying to disrupt the due process in the selection of principal officers of the 10th National Assembly, cautions that it might hamper the democratic process and powers of the constitution if their plot is executed.
He noted that information available to him reveals that some desperate politicians are planning to use undemocratic means to impose Lawmakers-elect of their choice to become pressing officers against the wishes of the majority. But, he insisted that the decision to select principal officers lies within the 109 elected senators and 360 members of the House of Representatives
However, he called on the attention of President Ahmed Bola Tinubu whom he regards as the father of Nigeria modern democracy not to allow these elements to undermine the laid down procedure of selecting principal officers of National Assembly.
“This is the first time in the history of our democracy when we have a President, Vice President, Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Chief of staff all with parliamentary experiences. Thus it is highly expected of them by Nigerians to respect both the constitutional and standing orders provisions.”
