The proprietor of Mark Mentors Basketball Club, Igoche Mark has revealed that the winners of the 2022 Mark ‘D’ Ball basketball Championship billed to commence on January 5, for the female and January 21 for the male championship, will go home with fabulous prizes and trophies.
In an unveiling ceremony held in Abuja on Tuesday night, Mark said that what they are doing was to revive the national basketball league which has gone moribund during the last administration of the Nigeria Basketball Federation (NBBF) under Engr. Ahmed Musa Kida
Mark, noted that the female championship will run for eight days at the indoor sports hall of package B of the Moshood Abiola National Stadium, Abuja, while the male own will run for three months.
According to him, the organisers are making adequate preparation for a hitch-free invitational championship, adding that the championship will kick start good things that are bound to come to one of the most populous sports in the country.
“We are here today (Tuesday) because we love this game, a game in which we are passionate about and a place where we spend most of our lives, hence, there is no gainsaying that as you make your bed, so you lie on it
“As you are aware, Mark ‘D’ Ball brand and her affiliations are not new to the basketball family. Therefore, in continuation of our contribution to the sustainable development of basketball, and in trying to see that the game is put back on the map, I present to you the MARK ‘D’ BALL CHAMPIONSHIP that is scheduled to commence in January 2022.
“We are working to ensure that all critical stakeholders are involved in this developmental process,” Mark said.
However, the unveiling ceremony was attended by state chairmen of basketball, clubs chairmen, coaches, veteran players, former NBBF board members, players and crème de la crème of basketball in Nigeria
