The House of Representatives Ad hoc Committee Investigating the Structure and Accountability of the Joint Venture (JV) Business and Production Sharing Contracts (PSCS) of NNPC has summoned Total Upstream, AGIP Energy & Natural Resources Ltd, Shell Nigeria Exploration Co. Ltd and other oil companies to appear before it over tax claims of about 85 billion dollars.
Chairman of the adhoc investigative committee, Hon. Abubakar Hassan Fulata who made this known during the comiittee’s meeting on Tuesday said almost all the oil companies in Nigeria. collected capital allowance & investment tax claims without Certificate of Acceptance of Fixed Assets (CAFA) which is breach of Nigeria’s extant laws.
Other companies being summoned by the committee include Addax Petroleum, Star Deep Water Petroleum Ltd, Statoil Nig Ltd, Oil and Gas Nig Ltd, Sterling Exploration Nig Ltd.
Others are Chevron Nig Ltd, Esso Exploration and Production Nigeria Ltd, Sterling Global Resources among others.
The committee is expected to meet on Wednesday. But the. Chairman, Fulata. said. all the companies and relevant stakeholders are expected to liase with the Secretariat to know the exact time of their meeting with the probe panel.
He also said the letter inviting them has been sent to all of them.
Fulata said the excuse being given by some of the CEOs of the. oil companies for not honouring the invitation on basis of security threat cannot stand.
He said what some of the international oil companies are doing in Nigeria, cannot be done in most countries of the world who are also producing oil.
