Abuja Elite tournament: Derby FC hold Ejike Ugboaja FC to 1-1 draw

As Abuja Elite tournament light up the Federal Capital Territory over the weekend, Ejike Ugboaja FC were held to a 1-1 draw by Derby FC in an explosive encounter witnessed at the Turf Arena in Central Business District, FCT.

Chukwuemeka Okeke, got the first goal for Ejike Ugboaja barely five minutes into the game. He received the pass from the left wing and strike a shut from the outside the 18-yard box and sent Ejike Ugboaja fans into wide celebration.

But, their celebration were cut short as Derby FC Aloko Ibrahim capitalized on a defence error and brought the game to parity at 20 minutes into into the game.The ended 1-1 before the interval.

However, on resumption in the second half of the game, Ejike Ugboaja FC goal tender Joseph Kelachukwu was a delight to watch as he frustrated their opponents attacking prowess, stopping over five one on one encounter with their strikers.

The 18-year-old Abia State born goal keeper was a cynosure of all eyes, and his performance got alot of fans talking as why he has not been drafted to the age grade national teams.

In an exclusive interview with Core Reporters, Kelachukwu said, he was going to continue improving in his game pending when his service will be needed by the national teams handlers According to him, “I really want to serve my country like the likes of Peter Rufai, Emmanuel Okala, Vincent Enyeama and the hosts others who gave their best for the country.”Meanwhile, Kelachukwu was named man of the match.Core Reporters report that Ejike Ugboaja FC will play their next match of the ongoing Elite tournament on Sunday against HB FC.
