10 man Kano Pillars on Wednesday broke the five games unbeaten runs of the second place Rivers United by beating them 1-0 in Ahmadu Bello stadium, Kaduna and climbed to fifth position on the 2020/21 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL’s) table.
Nyima Nekabari Nwagua got what proved to be the only goal of the match at 19 minutes into the game.
The second half started with both sides looking hopeful, particularly Rivers united who were desperate to get the equalizing goal no thanks to Pillars defence. Meanwhile, Pillars efforts to add to their tally also proved abortive as their visitors defence was a no go area in the second half of the game.
Rivers united is now having 12 points in six games two points behind leaders, Nasarawa United, while Pillars is having 11 points three points behind Nasarawa united and a point behind second place Rivers United.
