Convocation: Bingham University : Awards 78 first class graduates, 53 top distinction in PGD program.

No fewer than 78 first class graduates and 53 Post Graduate Degree students with distinction had been found worthy in character and learning were awarded.

Bingham University on Saturday held it 4th Combined Convocation Ceremony amid tight security in the varsity Chapel  Auditorium in Karu LGA of Nasarawa state.

The Vice Chancellor, Prof Williams Barnabas Qurix, revealed that the convocation is coming at a time as this which is against the earlier plans for the convocation scheduled to have taken place in 2020, but obstructed when the COVID-19 pandemic struck.

Professor Williams Qurix, however stated that the university managed to adapt fast use of technology for delivering of teaching and learning.

He further revealed that the university management targets  realizing N30.72 Billion to fund expansion of the institution between 2019 to 2024 (medium term) through fees,consultancy services, business ventures and grants.

“The sum of N42.65 Billion is expected to be generated between 2025 and 2034 ( long term) making a total  of N73.37Billion.The implementation of the strategic plan which is expected to transform the university into a world class.

“But, we encountered a massive debt of N7.5 Billion upon taking on our duties as the vice chancellor of our honorable university.Yet we deliberately implemented a financial initiative of trading off the debt and determined a triangle balance of debt payment.

” Salary and infrastructural growth, along with increasing the collection of school fees from 80℅ in 2018 to 90℅ in 2022,with remarkable increase across the years.We also increased our internally generated revenue.Team Qurix created an endowment fund of N14,400,000.00 and we are  currently progressing on a smooth financial balance, but still need to construct more initiatives and investigate alternative options” Prof Qurix revealed.

Also speaking, the Pro-Chancellor of the university, General, Martin Luther Agwai (Rtd) commended the vision, mission, sincerity of purpose, and financial commitment of the founders of ECWA community and congratulated them for the realization of this dream to provide quality education to youths generally.

He said ,” That I address you now at the point of graduation, proves that you are capable of adapting to changing circumstances .You kept going with purpose, focused on earning your academic degree and completing all that was required of you.”

On his part, the Chancellor, Pharmacists, Dr Luka Panya Baba who is the paramount ruler of Karu conferred a doctorate degree on Engineer, Festus Yusufu Narai Daudu with Doctorate of Science Degree Honoris Causa.
