A Senior Magistrate court sitting at Uke, karshi Development Area in Karu Local government Council of Nasarawa State,has issued a bench warrant against a serving commissioner of works ,Engr. Idris Mohammed, for failure to appear in court on the 31st day of October 2022.
Engr. Idris Mohammed who is the current Commissioner for Works and Rural Development in Nasarawa State, was allegedly standing trial for offences of Criminal Conspiracy, trespass and mischief in an action filed by Engr. Idris Aliyu Bori and one other.
It was reported that Engr.Idris Mohammed and 5 others were accused of trespassing into the land of the complainants and caused mischief thereon after intimidating the complainant.
Following Engr. Idris Mohammed absence from the court on the 31st October, 2022 without justifiable reason, Counsel for the complainant Miss. N. E Emmanuel Esq. applied that the bail earlier granted to him be revoked and that arrest warrant be issued against him as well as a criminal summons to the surety to show cause why he should not forfeit the bail bond.
Counsel for the defendants Miss. G. O Idu Esq. however opposed the application for the arrest.
The presiding Magistrate Aisha Abdullahi Esq. in her ruling upheld the application of the complainant counsel and ordered for the immediate arrest of the Commissioner citing continues disobedience to the court as the reason for her decision.
The case is adjourned to the 19th November 2022 for visit to the locus inquo
