Enyimba International football club of Aba on Wednesday defeated Nasarawa United 2-1 in a week eight encounter of the ongoing 2020/21 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) thereby relegated them from the top four.

Nasarawa United have enjoyed top four performances from the beginning of the eight-old-season unlike the 2019/2020 season they survived relegation courtesy of the outbreak of Covid-19,which propelled  the League Management Company in conjunction with the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) to ordered no promotion, no relegation to all teams in the leagues.

However, the Solid Miners were beaten by the two times Champions  of CAF Champions league in the presence of their sports loving governor, Engineer Abdullahi Sule who came into the stadium with lots of promises for the team but the hosts could not find the answer to Enyimba’s two questions.

Enyimba took the lead against the run of play in the most fortuitous of manner, as Nasarawa’s Abdullahi Abubakar diverted Tosin Omoyele’s cross into his own net leaving goalkeeper Danlami Umar in no-man’s land.

The home side’s response was, however, instant and well thought out, as Chinedu Ohanachom rose highest to nod home the equalizer off a pinpoint Katoh Haggai cross four minutes later.

But just past the half hour mark, Enyimba were back in the lead, Cyril Olisema scoring from the spot after Anayo Iwuala was tripped in the box by Sadiq Abdulrazaq.

Meanwhile, Enyimba is top of the log with 18 points in 8 matches while Nasarawa United are sixth on the log with 14 points in eight games, four points behind the Enyimba.
