The Nasarawa State Police Command has arraigned an academic staff of the Federal University of Lafia, Dr Fred Ayokhai, and his four other family members at the High Court 1 in Lafia on Wednesday.
Dr. Ayokhai was arraigned alongside; Emmanuel a Ayokhai, Bob Praise Ayokhai, and Saint-Dan Ayokhai on a six count charge bordering on Criminal Conspiracy, Burglary and Criminal Force or Assault to a woman with intent to outrage modesty, Kidnapping and Inflicting Physical Injury on another.
In a press release issued by the Nasarawa Police command spokesman, DSP Ramhan Nansel on Wednesday in lafia  and made available to Core Reporters, declares the police said, “Today, Wednesday October 26, 2022, we have arraigned  Dr. Fred Ekpa Ayokhai (53), Emmanuela  Ayokhai (18), Bob Praise Ayokhai (23) and Saint-Dan Ayokhai (21) at High Court 1 Lafia.
” We arraigned them before Justice Aisha Bashir-Aliyu, the Chief Judge of Nasarawa State on six (6) count charge bordering on Criminal Conspiracy, House Breaking and Criminal Force or Assault to woman with intent to outrage modesty, Kidnapping and Inflicting Physical Injury on another.
” The Offences listed above are punishable under Section 97 of the Penal Code Law of Northern Nigeria, Section 3(1) & 4 of the Nasarawa State Kidnapping (prohibition) Law, 2019, Section 268 (2) & 354 of the Penal Code Law of Northern Nigeria and Section 3 (1) of the Nasarawa State Violence Against Persons (prohibition) Law, 2019.
“The case has been assigned to High Court, Obi for trial while the suspects have been remanded in prison custody pending formal arraignment,” the statement said.
It would be recalled that Dr Fred Ayokhai and some members of his family, assaulted a lady recently in Lafia ,where the police swiftly embarked on investigation and got the brutal family arrested and detained.
It was gathered that the authority of the Federal University Lafia on Tuesday dissociated itself from the unethical and barbaric attitude perpetrated by Dr Fred Ayokhai, an academic staff with the university and his family.
