PDP Primaries: Govt restricts movement in Ogoja

The Cross River State government has announced restriction on some routes within Ogoja metropolis ahead of the September 5, 2020 Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) primaries for the Cross River North Senatorial by-election.

In a statement signed by the Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the governor of Cross River State, Christian Ita, the state government restricted movement in Government Reserved Area (GRA) roundabout to library and roundabout to governor’s lodge.

The statement read in part, “In view of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) primaries for the Cross North Senatorial by-election holding tomorrow, Saturday 5th September, 2020, the Cross River State Government hereby announces restriction of movements on the following routes in Ogoja:

“1. Government Reserved Area (GRA) roundabout to library and; 2. Government Reserved Area (GRA) roundabout to Governor’s lodge.

“Please note that only delegates to the primary election and persons on essential services will be granted access into the aforementioned areas.

Consequent upon this development, His Excellency, Sir Ben Ayade has urged security agencies to ensure that the exercise is peaceful even as he warned would be trouble makers to stay away as anyone who seeks to torment trouble will face the full weight of the law,” the statement concluded.
