Indications are rife that the immediate past deputy governor of Benue State, Chief Stephen Lawani may have thrown his hat in the ring for his third missionary journey in his bid to occupy the government house, Makurdi.
Informed sources who’re privy to the behind the scenes moves, of the former deputy governor said, Lawani is working assiduously underground and closely with appointees of the former state governor, Senator Gabriel Suswam to achieve his primary aim of power shift to the central senatorial district come 2023.
We gathered that Lawani who’s banking on power shift to Benue Central, equity and fair play is angling for the APC ticket, come 2023.
We learnt in the course of our in depth investigations that Lawani is presently shopping for a running mate from the Tivs Ethic tribe
It could be recalled that since the creation of Benue State in 1973.only the Tivs have governed Benue State while the Idomas settled for the post of the deputy governor.
Further recalled that, the Idomas gave bloc vote to Bars Emmanuel Jime of the APC during the 2019 governorship election in the state, though lost to the current state governor, Emmanuel Ortom of the People Democratic Party (PDP) who defected from APC to PDP ahead of the election.
However, how the Idomas and Chief Lawandi would dislodge the Tivs at the apex of the Benue State would remain a mirage unless the Tivs relinquished power through equity
