Coach Salisu Yusuf
By Raphael Ekpang
All is not well with the nation’s football as the reappointment of Salisu Yusuf as the Chief Coach of the Super Eagles has allegedly tore apart the cordial relationship between the Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Mr. Sunday Dare and the leadership of the NFF led by Amaju Pinnick.
Corereporters can authoritatively report that, Mr Dare is not comfortable with the reappointment of Salifu Yusf as the chief coach of the nation’s senior national team having been caught on corruption case which he (Yusuf) has even served the punishment for the offence.
We gathered that if the NFF did not reverse the reappointment of Salisu as earlier been announced, the Federal Government of Nigeria through the ministry of youth and sports development will stop financing it. This is because; the Minister of sports, Dare has declared zero tolerance for corruption.
However, the decision of Mr. Dare has not gone down well with the NFF’s echelon as they are bent on calling a bluff of the minister.
Meanwhile, Salisu has served one year of his punishment for receiving a bribe.
Salisu was found guilty of collecting an amount of money reported to be around $1000 and was sanctioned by the NFF Ethics Committee with a fine of $5000 and a one-year ban from football-related activities.
He was caught on camera receiving money to influence his team’s selection for the 2017 Wafu Cup of Nations in Ghana
