The Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Mr. Sunday Dare has expressed deep shock over the demise of three notable people in the football circle, former Producer with Minaj Broadcasting Services, Hycinth Umeh, Toluope Abelola, head of ICT of the Nigerian Football Federation and former Flying Eagles goalkeeper, John Felaghan within a space of few days.
“My sincere condolences to the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), FCT Chapter over the loss of one of their members, Hycinth Umeh who until his death had contributed immensely to sports’ development through his reportage as a broadcaster and producer.
“I also use this medium to condole with the family, SWAN FCT over the death of one of their members. May God Almighty comfort the family and may his soul rest in peace.
In a statement from the media office of the minister of youth and sports, Mr Dare also condoled with the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) over the death of her head of ICT, Tolulope Abelola, saying that his death was quite sad and shocking,
He noted that the highlight of his career was in 2018 when he worked tirelessly in ensuring that the Fan ID for all Nigeria contingents to the 2018 Russia world cup were captured.
“I was informed that he did a good job. It is so unfortunate that he died when his services were most needed. May his soul rest in peace, I pray the family have the fortitude to bear this huge loss.
Mr. Dare condoled with the family of the former U-20 goalkeeper John Felagha who also passed on recently.
“This is a time for sober reflection, it is a period the sport fraternity should pray for the souls of the living so we can all fulfill destiny.
The Minister said his prayers and thoughts are with the families of the deceased.
