In its bid to contribute its quota in combating crimes, addressing unemployment and youths restiveness in Nigeria, Ejika Ugboaja Foundation has again awarded scholarships to five basketball players to enable them go to school in the United State of America as well as play basketball to earn a living.
The founder of Ejike Ugboaja foundation, Ejike Ugboaja in an exclusive interview with Core Reporters said they, in Ejike Ugboaja Foundation are committed to the well-being of Nigerian youths that is why the foundation has continued to give scholarship to the youths despite not receiving support from any quarter after fourteen years of existence.
However, after awarding scholarships to three youths in Nasarawa State prior to the Christmas, the foundation moved to Anambra state where Imo, Ebonyi and Anambra states participated in a talent hunt basketball tournament it organized.
The tournament played in a penultimate week; Imo state emerged the winners of the tournament, while Ebonyi state came second.
According to Ugboaja, “What we are doing is to give back to society that is why we would not relent in our efforts to get Nigerian youths off the streets of the 36 states and FCT through education, basketball and Nigeria-America football.
The former NBA and D’Tigers’ star insisted that the only way Nigeria could have a better society is to invest in the youths and which he said the foundation is deeply into.
Meanwhile, Ugboaja revealed that the foundation will face Kaduna State for another round of talent hunt tournament in a bid to select talents and award scholarships to them to enable them school in the USA and earn their livings through basketball and Nigeria-America football.
