The League Management Company (LMC) has confirmed the earlier published story of this online Newspaper that it has cancelled the 2019/2020 Nigeria Professional Football League season and declaredPlateau United, Enyimba FC, Rivers United and Kano Pillars as the nation’s representative to the continental championships.

However, on Sunday, it was reported that Chairmen of 17 NPFL clubs voted to end the 2019/2020 season with the top 3 clubs representing Nigeria in CAF competition

The vote which was conducted in Abuja on Sunday was one of the different options submitted by the Chairman of the League Management Company to the Ministry of Sports

Using Point Per Game (PPG), Plateau United, Enyimba and Rivers United are the first, second and third teams on the NPFL log respectively and Kano Pillars are the defending Champions of AITEO Cup.

According to them, 17 clubs namely, Kwara United, Kano Pillars, Katsina United, Jigawa Golden Stars, Adamawa United, Wikki Tourist, Sunshine Stars, Enyimba, Warri Wolves, Abia Warriors, MFM, Nasarawa United, FC Ifeanyi Ubah, Dakkada FC, Heartland, Rivers United and Plateau United all voted to end the season with the top 3 clubs to represent the country via PPG (Point Per Game) with no Relegation and Promotion.

Meanwhile, Lobi Stars FC of Makurdi have rejected the voting process of the clubs owners and insisted on the illegality of the Point Per Game (PPG) and accused the chairman of the LMC, Shehu Dikko of pacifying other clubs in to endorsing the illegal PPG mechanism just to favour one Club.

It would be recalled that on June 5, 2020 this medium had reported that, after the meeting between the NFF and LMC top echelon the 2019/2020 NPFL season has been canceled and Plateau United, Enyimba Fc, Rivers United and Kano Pillars were declared the four clubs that will represent the nation in CAF Champions League and Confederation Cup respectively.

You will further recalled that on June 1, 2020 we reported that Lobi Stars that was third on the NPFL league table would be rigged out of continental representation.
