In order to restore peace in the Nigerian Basketball Federation (NBBF) the embattled Caretaker Committee Chairman, Engineer Ahmed Musa Kida may have resolved to step aside from his position to allow peace to reign. The election slated for October 30, 2021, may also be postponed.

A source close to the outgoing President of the NBBF said pressure is on his boss to step aside so that peace can return to the federation, saying that the latest expose by the female national basketball team players (D’Tigers) and the face-off with the players shortly after the players’ rep and the technical election is strongly working against him.

The source further revealed that a series of meetings were held last week between basketball stakeholders; majorly the players and Kida’s camp and the outcome was pointing to the fact that the embattled Caretaker Committee Chairman must step aside for peace to reign.

“Honestly, it is not easy with my boss; he has tried to get stakeholders to understand why he needs to continue in office in order to improve the game in the country but the more he tries, the more resistance from his enemies.

“My oga may step aside today or any day before the date for the election, this to enable peace return to the NBBF. Look at other federations that have held their elections and Badminton have also settled themselves so; my boss will definitely step aside if he really loves the game as he always says.

“On the election slated on Saturday, October 30, 2021, in Benin, our source said, “I think if my boss steps aside, they will definitely postpone the election to allow all stakeholders to be on the same page before they can fix a new date for the election.”
