Ebonyi FA Chairman, Senator Joseph Ogba
The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has distance itself from the Ebonyi State Football Association Aiteo’s cup draws crisis.
NFF General Secretary, Dr. Sanusi Mohammed said the federation has no problem with any club submitted to it from any state including Ebonyi by the FA leadership to represent the state in the Aiteo’s cup competition. But he advised that if Ebonyi FA has any political crisis they should sort themselves out and live NFF alone.
According to him, “I think they have a political problem, let them sort themselves out because we can’t do it for them.
“We are not to pick a club to represent the state for them, it is the duty of the state FA and they have duly communicated to us who is their representative, that is why you see the name of the club drawn alongside others,” NFF GS said.
A crisis erupted in Ebonyi State FA shortly after the release of the Aiteo’s cup draws by the NFF over the replacement of Cynosure FC with Ngwa United in the 2021 Ailteo’s Cup competition.
Cynosure FC had raised the alarm on Thursday over their sudden replacement with Ngwa United as the representative of Ebonyi state in the 2021 Aiteo’s cup competition haven emerged as the state champions.
But barely three days after and in what looks like a settlement, the chairman of Cynosure FC, Prince Chidiebere in a statement made available to New National Star last Sunday have accepted the situation in good fate while pledging allegiance to Senator Joseph Obinna Ogba led State FA.
According to the statement, “It really saddens to know that we have been a ‘victim of circumstances* in the Ebonyi state FA versus the State sports council in a power a tussle over FA Secretariat position.
Cynosure FC is a law-abiding club and we remain loyal to the leadership of the Ebonyi State FA Chairman led by distinguished Senator Obinna Ogba.
We will definitely channel this energy to seeing that we prepare massively for other sporting activities.
We want to thank everyone – especially the journalists who tried in their best capacity to seeing that the F.A ticket is reverted – and many others who called severally to settle the issue. We say thank you very much.
Cynosure FC has accepted the situation in good fate and in the same vein wish Ngwa United well,” the statement reads.
