The National Executive Council (NEC) of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) has commended the Delta State governor, Senator Dr. Patrick Okowa for the efforts the state is putting in hosting the 2022 National Sports Festival (NSF).
.NEC also applauds the Governor for donating a brand new bus to the Delta State chapter of SWAN.
This was contained in a communiqué issued on Thursday after the expanded NEC meeting of the association held in Asaba, Delta State on Tuesday.
NEC while commending Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) and the League Management Company (LMC) for their efforts to commence the 2021/22 NPFL season, called for proper analysis and solution to the insecurity in the nation so that it doesn’t disrupt the free flow of the league.
The communiqué reads in part, “NEC congratulates NFF on the qualification of Super Eagles for the last round for Qatar 2022 World Cup, urging them to ensure that necessary preparations are made for the team as well Super Falcons to secure qualification for Qatar and Morocco 2022 respectively.
“NEC lauds the Federal Government and Security Agencies for restoring relative peace back to the North East, lauding the NGO’s for using sports to reposition the IDPs and urged the state Governors in the area to do more in using sports to resettle the IDPs.
“NEC also commends the Caretaker Committee in Lagos SWAN chapter for the matured way they are handling the matter at hand in the state and urged them to remain focused in moving the vision of the association forward.
“NEC commends the leadership of FCT SWAN chapter led by Ndubueze Chidoka and urged the leadership to welcome back those who have erred as the National Secretariat will continue to support the course of the association in the Federal Capital Territory.
“NEC in conjunction with South-South EXCO resolved to set up a Caretaker Committee in states overdue for state elections in the zone.
NEC appreciates the Abuja Smart City Committee urging them to do more in ensuring a good job while calling on SWAN members with good ideas on how to achieve the Association’s goal to furnish the committee.”
Meanwhile, members of the communique drafting committee include; Chukwuleta Chigozie – Chairman, Jibo Zakaria (Member), Orji Sampson (Member), Seun Ajayi-Obe “Member” and Chidoka Ndubueze (Secretary).
